Introduction
A company in Springfield Park needs an AI Engineer to develop and maintain systems
The Following is required:
To design, build, and maintain a network of AI agents and sub-agents (using Claude/Claude Agent SDK) that automate and augment business processes across the organisation. The role owns the technical framework end-to-end - from the underlying infrastructure (including a proposed in-house/dedicated AI learning server) through to agent design, testing, deployment, and ongoing refinement - while working directly with Executive and Manco stakeholders to identify use cases, gather requirements, and roll out solutions department by department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents and subagents (multi-agent systems) using Claude to automate workflows, decision support, and reporting across departments.
- Build and lead the internal "AI team" or centre of excellence, including scoping future hires as the framework scales.
- Partner with Executive and Manco-level stakeholders to translate business problems into agent/automation requirements, prioritise use cases, and report on outcomes and ROI.
- Evaluate, propose, and help implement the infrastructure strategy for continuous model learning/fine-tuning (e.g. a dedicated in-house server versus cloud-hosted approach), including data pipelines, security, and governance.
- Establish testing, monitoring, and safety/guardrail practices for agents operating in production (accuracy checks, escalation paths, audit trails).
- Maintain documentation of the agent framework, prompts, workflows, and integrations for continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Keep the organisation current with Claude/Anthropic platform updates and broader agentic-AI developments, recommending adoption where it adds value.
- Manage data privacy, security, and compliance considerations relevant to AI systems (POPIA and any sector-specific requirements).
Desired Experience & Qualification
Experience
- 2+ years in software engineering, data engineering, or AI/ML engineering, with demonstrable hands-on experience building with LLMs/agent frameworks (Claude, OpenAI, LangChain, AutoGen, or similar).
- Experience integrating AI into real business workflows, not just proof-of-concept demos.
- Experience working directly with senior stakeholders/executives, translating business needs into technical solutions.
Technical skills
- Strong Python (or equivalent) programming.
- Practical experience with Claude (API, Claude Agent SDK) or comparable LLM platforms, including multi-agent orchestration.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), and agent tool-use/function calling.
- Working knowledge of servers/infrastructure, APIs, and data security - enough to evaluate an in-house AI server proposal, even if a specialist infrastructure engineer supports implementation.
- Familiarity with data governance and responsible-AI practices
