The Kitchen Manager will lead all culinary operations at Woodside Special Care Centre, a residential facility caring for 80 profoundly intellectually and physically disabled residents. This role demands expertise in specialised diets, nutritional planning, and Department of Health compliance. The successful candidate will ensure that every meal supports residents’ health, hydration, and dignity while maintaining operational efficiency and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Menu Development — Design and implement balanced, portion-controlled menus aligned with DoH guidelines and residents’ dietary needs (soft diets, texture-modified meals, hydration support).
- Nutritional Oversight — Collaborate with nursing staff to adapt meals for medical conditions, swallowing difficulties, and individual preferences.
- Kitchen Operations — Oversee daily food preparation, cooking, and service routines; ensure consistency and hygiene.
- Staff Supervision — Train and guide kitchen assistants in specialised diet preparation and safe food handling.
- Stock and Procurement — Manage inventory, monitor expiry dates, and prevent wastage through systematic stock rotation.
- Quality and Safety — Maintain compliance with health regulations, food safety audits, and internal quality standards.
- Collaboration — Work closely with nursing and care teams to align meal schedules with resident routines and hydration plans.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing a kitchen in a healthcare or special care environment.
- Proven ability to design and implement DoH-compliant menus.
- Strong understanding of nutrition, hydration, and texture-modified diets.
- Certification in Food Safety and Hygiene (Level 2 or higher).
- Leadership experience with diverse kitchen teams.
