Phalusa Enterprise (Pty) Ltd invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Site Agent for a project involving the supply and installation of three Non-Return Valves (NRVs) and three Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) within the Port of Port Elizabeth. The works include excavation, installation of valves, construction of manholes, concrete bases, commissioning, and reinstatement.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or N6 Certificate in Civil Engineering or Built Environment courses.
- Certified copy of qualification (certified within the last three months).
- Experience managing 7–8 or more water infrastructure network construction and/or maintenance projects.
- Detailed CV showing:
- Projects managed
- Year of execution
- Water infrastructure network construction and/or maintenance experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage the installation of Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) and Non-Return Valves (NRVs).
- Supervise excavation of manholes with depths ranging from 1.2 m to 2.5 m.
- Ensure excavations comply with all legal and safety requirements.
- Determine whether hand excavation, mechanical excavation, or a combination of both is required.
- Ensure excavations are properly backfilled and compacted after completion.
- Oversee the installation of SANS-compliant precast heavy-duty concrete manholes and heavy-duty composite manhole covers.
- Supervise the construction of 200 mm concrete base slabs.
- Ensure all PRVs and NRVs are commissioned.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements and applicable legislation.
- Coordinate work to minimise disruption to Port operations.
- Ensure all work is completed within the agreed project period.
