- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level
- Previous experience in a retail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) stockroom or receiving environment highly desirable
- Ability and willingness to work flexible shifts as required by store operations
- Basic product knowledge relevant to stockroom inventory and retail merchandise
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal customers and team members
- Good numeracy and literacy skills to handle stock records and related documentation accurately
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures to maintain an organized, hygienic, and safe stockroom environment
- Demonstrated customer service orientation, including friendliness, responsiveness, and attention to customer needs
- Basic planning, organizing, and detail orientation skills to ensure efficient stock handling and adherence to quality standards
- Personal reliability and integrity, with a commitment to attendance, dress code, and ethical conduct in the workplace
- Receive, check, and process incoming stock deliveries.
- Verify quantities, descriptions, and condition of stock received against delivery notes/invoices.
- Assist with unpacking, sorting, labeling, and storing stock in the correct locations.
- Maintain an organised and clean stock room environment.
- Ensure stock is stored safely according to company procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and report low stock, damages, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with stock takes.
- Pick and prepare stock items for store replenishment or customer requests.
- Assist with moving stock using appropriate handling equipment.
- Rotate stock according to expiry dates or stock rotation procedures (FIFO where applicable).
- Ensure shelves, racks, and storage areas are neat and clearly labelled.
- Process stock transfers between departments/stores when required.
- Assist with returns, damaged stock, and write-off procedures.
- Follow health and safety standards when handling stock.
- Maintain accurate stock records and update systems where required.
- Support the sales floor team by ensuring stock availability.
- Report any stock losses, theft risks, or safety concerns to management.
- Assist with housekeeping duties in the stock room and surrounding areas.
- Provide excellent service and communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
- Perform any additional duties as required by the supervisor/manager.
