Refinery, a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd, is looking to employ a Designer on a 6 months Fixed term contract. The successful incumbent will be responsible for creating unique ranges rooted in the Refinery product strategy. A Designer designs and assists with key stages of the merchandise critical path. They identify trends, and select styles, fabrics, colors, prints and trims for a collection. This role will involve assisting in all steps of the execution of the design process, from initial trend concept through the execution of the final product.
- Design and create detailed CADs for a specific department that best represents the brand's product strategy.
- Work closely with the buyer to execute on the seasonal product strategy - creation and execution of the range
- Consistent and on-going research for newness in Product; Artwork and Trends direction. (Internet; Magazine; competitive shopping)
- Liaising with Brand Manager constantly on activities at retail and newness in trend/ product.
- Creating CADS/storyboards/Graphics and Original Artwork
- Compiling comprehensive tech packs for suppliers (CAD’s/ TD’s/Colours/ Specs/Graphics & Artwork)
- Participation with QA in fittings and technical discussions
- Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience designing in a retail environment.
- Practical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and trims.
- Excellent skills in Adobe Illustrator as well as other relevant design software skills preferred, such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
