This pivotal leadership role involves directing the end-to-end daily operations of a high-volume retail outlet, ensuring peak departmental performance, robust financial growth, and strict adherence to corporate operational benchmarks. Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Compliance
Direct all daily store activities to guarantee seamless cross-departmental functionality
Oversee inventory control, supply chain receiving, and absolute compliance with internal protocols
Enforce strict alignment with local labour legislation, workplace health and safety laws, and commercial standards
Team Management & Workforce Optimization
Lead, mentor, and inspire floor staff and department heads to consistently exceed sales and service metrics
Execute routine performance evaluations, manage employee relations, and champion a positive workplace culture
Strategically design labour schedules to maximize operational output while minimizing overhead costs
Financial Management & Commercial Drive
Closely monitor revenue generation, gross margins, and inventory shrinkage to achieve corporate financial targets
Execute local marketing campaigns, creative merchandising layouts, and customer loyalty initiatives
Compile and present comprehensive weekly and monthly financial performance reports to executive leadership
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years of progressive retail management experience, with a strict preference for the FMCG, supermarket, or grocery wholesale sectors
Technical Skills: Deep expertise in inventory optimization, stock management systems, and back-office retail software. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
Leadership: Proven capacity to manage large teams, handle employee relations
Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible retail roster, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Logistics: Must possess a valid driver’s license and independent, dependable transport
Skills / Competencies
Hands-on, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong financial acumen with ability to manage budgets and control costs
