Requirements
- A relevant Technical Tertiary Qualification preferably a
National Diploma in Geomatics. This includes a National Diploma
or equivalent in Geomatics/ Geographic Information
systems/Land Surveying / Cartography or
Electrical Engineering
- Relevant GIS courses
- A minimum of 1 – 2 years relevant experience
- Extensive experience in the recording and capture of
electricity distribution systems
- Good interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy
- Valid code B driver’s license
Special Conditions:
- Required to work in all weather conditions
- Required to work outside normal working hours as demanded
by the exigencies of the service
- Required to use own transport for which an appropriate
transport allowances will be payable
Key Performance Areas
- Record and verify as-built electrical infrastructure through
field inspections, site measurements, GPS recording and
remote sensing.
- Capture, maintain and update spatial and non-spatial
electrical infrastructure information in GIS and provide
CAD protection drawings for planned and existing substations
and operating diagrams in conjunction with switching programs.
- Process, transform, clean, classify and integrate externally
sourced spatial and attribute data into existing GIS databases
in accordance with required standards.
- Preforms tasks associated with data modelling to provide
accurate information in the required format.
- Provide CAD drawing and design support for new works,
job proposals, planned and existing substations and
other engineering requirements in line with defined standards.
