VACANCY: SETTER
The main function of the job will include, but are not limited to the following:
Core Responsibilities
1. Machine and Component Setup
- Complete all setups for machines and components according to job Specifications and timelines.
- Verify the accuracy and functionality of each setup before production begins.
- Ensure all tooling and components are aligned, calibrated, and operating correctly.
2. Documentation and Repeatability
- Create and maintain detailed Setters Notes for every component and job.
- Include detailed step-by-step instructions, tooling adjustments, machine parameters, and any critical observations.
- Update notes based on insights gained during each setup.
- Ensure that notes are stored in a centralized, easily accessible location (e.g., Monday.com or another documentation platform).
- Use Setters Notes to facilitate faster, standardized setups and ensure consistent quality across production runs.
3. Collaboration and Problem-Solving
- Collaborate with the toolroom and production teams to address setup challenges proactively.
- Engage in troubleshooting tooling or setup issues before escalating them to the Toolroom or Technical Manager.
- Coordinate with the draughtsmen team to ensure drawings and CNC programs align with practical setup needs.
4. Pre-Production Readiness
- Conduct thorough checks of all setups to confirm they meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform trial runs when necessary to ensure production-readiness before handing over to production.
- Confirm that all components and tools are tested and operational to minimize downtime during production.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline setups and reduce setup times.
- Propose modifications or improvements to tooling and machines to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in team training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve overall technical expertise.
6. End-of-Production Procedures
- Ensure tools and components are returned to their designated locations after production.
- Confirm that tools are cleaned, maintained, and stored with the last-off sample for reference.
- Initiate repair requests or updates for any tools showing wear or needing improvements.
