Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance
- Verify production and quality-related records.
- Conduct internal quality audits with QA team members, record observations, and make recommendations.
- Conduct or coordinate mock recalls, communicate Batch Numbers, and record feedback from depots. Verify production data against depot quantities and report variances to the SHEQ Manager.
- Calibrate relevant equipment, update Master Calibration Sheet, and coordinate recalibration as needed.
- Generate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for consumables, chemicals, reagents, and calibrations done by suppliers.
- Investigate non-conformances to QA Standards, obtain physical evidence of hazards, and draft reports with recommendations for the SHEQ Manager.
- Keep QA-related documentation current and relevant, review and revise existing documentation, and develop new working instructions as required.
- Compile Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for export countries and submit them to the SHEQ Manager for approval. Communicate details to the Brands Division.
- Support the SHEQ Manager in monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and standards, such as the Food Safety Act.
Administration and Reporting
- Verify and file QA documentation, including Calibration Certificates, Production Packs, and Quality Control (QC) Packs.
- Assist and actively participate in external audits.
Customer Complaints
- Investigate customer complaints, obtain details from clients, and contact relevant veterinarians for feedback on food-related illnesses.
- Review lab tests and provide feedback to the SHEQ Manager for communication with the Customer Relations Team.
Training
- Train new employees on QA Standards, Policies, Procedures, Personal Hygiene Standards, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements.
- Conduct refresher training on Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP), pest control, online systems, and various QA-related working instructions to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and policies.
People Management
- Manage attendance and performance of direct reports, offer guidance, and take disciplinary action if required.
- Provide growth and development opportunities for direct reports through on-the-job training and feedback.
- Participate in the selection and appointment of new team members.
- Conduct regular meetings and promote open communication within the team.
- Approve leave and manage overtime for direct reports.
- Demonstrate and communicate the Company Culture by applying the six themes in the workplace.
Hygiene, Housekeeping, and Occupational Health and Safety
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Food Safety Standards.
- Identify health and safety hazards, implement corrective and preventative measures, and report hazards to Management.
- Maintain personal hygiene standards and keep the working area clean and tidy. Assist with cleaning during factory shutdowns/maintenance.
