Job Purpose
The Driver/Wash Bay Assistant is responsible for safely collecting and delivering customer vehicles, transporting staff or parts when required, and ensuring that repaired vehicles are thoroughly cleaned and presentable before handover.
Key ResponsibilitiesDriving Duties
- Safely collect and deliver customer vehicles as instructed.
- Transport vehicles between the panel shop, suppliers, dealerships, assessors and other service providers.
- Collect and deliver parts, documents and other business items when required.
- Complete vehicle condition checks before collection and delivery.
- Record existing damage and immediately report any concerns.
- Ensure all vehicle handover and collection documentation is completed accurately.
- Drive responsibly and comply with all road traffic laws.
- Keep company vehicles clean, fuelled and in good working condition.
- Report accidents, traffic fines, damage or mechanical problems immediately.
- Maintain professional and courteous conduct when dealing with customers and suppliers.
Wash Bay Duties
- Wash, vacuum and clean repaired vehicles before customer handover.
- Clean vehicle interiors, windows, wheels, tyres and exterior surfaces.
- Remove dust, polishing residue and workshop marks from completed vehicles.
- Inspect cleaned vehicles and report remaining defects or damage.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly.
- Keep the wash bay clean, organised and free from hazards.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and report low stock levels.
- Assist with moving and parking vehicles safely within the workshop premises.
- Assist with general workshop duties when reasonably required.
Essential Requirements
- A valid South African driver’s licence is essential.
- A safe and responsible driving record.
- Previous driving, wash bay, vehicle-cleaning or automotive experience is preferred.
- Ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles confidently.
- Good knowledge of the Cape Town and Parow areas.
- Ability to inspect vehicles and record existing damage accurately.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
- Must be reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Must be willing and able to commute reliably to Parow.
- Candidates living in Parow or nearby areas will be preferred for practical commuting purposes.
- Must be available to work Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays when required.
