We’re Hiring: Procurement Officer – Solar Industry
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Officer to join our team in the solar and renewable energy industry.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing stock for solar products, electrical components, and related renewable energy equipment. This role is suited to someone who is organised, supplier-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment where product availability, pricing, and lead times are important to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure solar and renewable energy products, including inverters, batteries, solar panels, mounting structures, pumps, electrical components, and accessories.
- Communicate with suppliers to request pricing, availability, lead times, and updated product information.
- Compare supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing, reliable quality, and suitable delivery timelines.
- Place purchase orders and follow up to ensure stock arrives on time.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with planning purchases based on sales demand and product movement.
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and product records.
- Work closely with the sales, warehouse, and management teams to ensure stock availability and smooth order fulfilment.
- Assist with resolving supplier queries, delivery delays, product shortages, or incorrect stock received.
- Stay informed about product changes, new solar technologies, and market trends within the renewable energy industry.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years’ experience in procurement, buying, stock control, supply chain, or a similar role.
- Experience in the solar, electrical, renewable energy, or technical product industry will be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of supplier communication, pricing comparisons, purchase orders, and stock management.
- Good knowledge of solar products such as inverters, batteries, solar panels, mounting structures, and electrical accessories would be beneficial.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple supplier enquiries at once.
- Computer literate with experience using email, spreadsheets, stock systems, or procurement software.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work well with different departments.
Beneficial Skills:
- Existing knowledge of solar and electrical suppliers.
- Understanding of product specifications, warranties, and technical documentation.
- Experience working with fast-moving stock and high-demand products.
- Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
- Knowledge of solar brands such as LuxPower, Sunsynk, Deye, JA Solar, or similar industry brands.
