WE’RE HIRING: SEAMSTRESS / SEWING ASSISTANT
Location: Ferndale, Randburg (Johannesburg)
Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
About the Role
Iconic Designs Apparel is a growing start up fashion brand specialising in satin bonnets, gowns, and custom garments. We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented female seamstress/sewing assistant to join our team.
The role will initially be based at a home studio for training and quality control. As the business expands, there will be opportunities to move into a larger workspace and grow into a supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities
- Sewing and assembling hair bonnets
- Making night dresses, gowns, and garments
- Producing dresses, pants, shirts, and shorts
- Pattern manipulation and adjustments
- Creating bodice patterns from scratch
- Making accessories (scrunchies, hair bows, bow ties, make up bags)
- Assisting with custom orders
- Maintaining high-quality finishing and neatness
Requirements
- Proven sewing experience
- Knowledge of pattern making and garment construction
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and meet quality standards
- Ability to work independently after training
- Reliable and punctual
Training & Growth
Important to Note:
Training will be provided to teach you our product designs, construction methods, and quality standards.
However:
We cannot teach you how to sew
We cannot teach basic machine operation
We cannot teach machine troubleshooting
Applicants must already have these skills before applying.
This role offers growth into a senior or supervisory position as the business develops.
