A well-established, nationally based structural steel, aluminium & stainless steel fabrication & supply company in Kempton Park, Gauteng is currently on the lookout for an experienced Senior Estimator who is able to join their successful team in Johannesburgh as soon as possible. This role is critical to the success of projects, ensuring accurate costing, profitability, and smooth execution. The Estimator will assess project drawings, prepare costings and Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and factor in all logistical and operational requirements for project implementation. Requirements:
- Quantity Surveying/Mechanical or Civil Engineering/Relevant Field
- Minimum 10 years’ estimating and end to end project management experience
- Experience in project scoping/BOQ development, measurement take-offs from site and plan, developing material, labour, subcontractor, plant and equipment budgets, compiling project programs and cashflow forecasts
- Experience in interim claims, variations, final account management, OHS Management, and Building Contract Management
- Strong technical knowledge in the building industry
- Proven tendering track record
- Valid driver’s license
- Presentable and well spoken (bilingual in English and Afrikaans)
- Confident with excellent communication skills
- Ethical and professional
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting AutoCAD drawings.
- Strong numerical and financial acumen with the ability to monitor margins and profitability.
- Familiarity with construction methodologies and project implementation.
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of logistical and site-related requirements (transport, accommodation, rigging, etc.).
- Sourcing and costing of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially minded, focused on bottom-line results.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
