WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join the Energy Services team in Johannesburg. This individual will be responsible for the effective sales and marketing of the Energy Services (coal and coke) capabilities to the industry to ensure growth and profitability, the development and execution of marketing and sales strategies. They will also be responsible for growing the leads and client’s database and bring in revenue contracts within the first year of joining the company. This individual will also engage with external - shipping agents, traders, clients, regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies e.g. SANAS, SADCAS on energy services (coal and coke) and will work closely with respective Energy Services Commercial Team on any opportunities in Africa. The role involves extensive travel to sell the energy services (coal and coke) business in Africa.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Marketing/BD/Science qualification/Technical qualification related
- Computer literacy (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and working knowledge on LIMS)
- Proficiency in English (read, write and speak)
- Valid driver’s licence
Required work experience
- Desirable experience of 10 + years of related working experience within the Energy Services (coal and coke) and chemistry industries.
- Previous experience in dealing with clients
- Business development and strategy
Strategy
Develop and implement an agile business development strategy by priority as per KPI Develop a targeted sales plan with priority clients, network by priority as per KPI Conduct desktop research on coal markets – mines, shareholders, tonnages, revenue potential, destinations, receivers etc.
Administrative

Assist with administration work i.e. customer RFQS, complaints, enquires etc
- Attend to internal and external meetings and keep minutes and action plans.
- Assist with planning of networking and conference events
- Assist with sourcing of marketing materials for BD events
- IT (Internal Systems)
- Utilize the available IT systems
Commercial / Marketing

- Possess excellent interpersonal skills with good written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively and efficiently, both over the telephone and personally, with people from a variety of backgrounds.
Supporting the Industry Lead in organizing and participating in client visits, sample collection, and client related administrative discussions.

Ensuring that ISO 17025:2017 requirements are applied effectively in areas of energy services work.
- Ensuring the Company’s Health & Safety policy is applied effectively in areas of energy services work.
Any risks and deviations identified to be brought to the attention of the Industry Lead.

Maintaining a professional standard and appearance during office hours and while promoting the company when on company business both internally and externally.
- If become aware of any HR/IR related issues during site visits to report to relevant heads of department, HR Manager and Energy Service Industry Lead.

- operational plans.
- Work interdependently but also towards team goals, understanding priorities and pressures.
- Support collaborative working with team and stakeholders.
- Attend regular progress meetings with agreed and relevant parties.
Ad-hoc Projects / Other

Undertaking other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with Energy Service Industry Lead.
Assist the Operations with undertaking / participating in other duties such as projects in consultation with the Energy Services and Client’s Representatives.
