The Western Cape Mobility Department has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to manage the Subdirectorate Financial Accounting, develop, review and implement financial accounting systems and procedures in line with relevant legislation, regulations, frameworks and departmental policies and procedures. The person must have the ability to work under pressure, willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.
An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Financial Management; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Financial Accounting at supervisory/management level. Manage the financial revenue, expenditure management and accounting Subdirectorate; Undertake revenue, expenditure management and accounting work as required; Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Subdirectorate; People Management; Financial Management.
Knowledge and understanding of the following: Legislation, regulatory, frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions; Departmental accounting services; Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function; Project management; Operational management practices; Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; Public service procedures, processes and systems; Public finance, human resources and

All-inclusive salary package of R 849 702 per annum (Salary level 11)
Note on remuneration: to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

These candidates will be required to attend interviews and a practical on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests.
