The MiWay Business Insurance department is looking for an experienced Commercial Underwriter to lead a small team of junior underwriters in accepting good quality SME risks through a variety of direct insurance distribution channels. Responsibilities of this position includes managing operations of the call center quality assurance team. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to product and system design, developing new products and refining processes involving the Property risk surveying function.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Regulatory Exam (RE 5)
- FAIS credits
- Matric / NQF 4
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience underwriting commercial insurance risks
- Minimum of 3 years' in a managerial role
- Any commercial claims related experience will be highly beneficial
- Any commercial insurance sales experience will be beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent people skills
- Strong analytical ability
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure

Data Collection and monitoring decisions made by underwriters based on knowledge of business processes
Management of employees
Reporting and Administration
