Key Outputs
- Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance and repairs as per OEM requirements.
- Systematic and efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems problems and carry out repairs on earthmoving equipment on customer sites.
- Compile accurate customer machine reports that include failure analysis, condition, service, machine Inspection reports (MIR's) and technical analysis reports (TA's).
- Maintain professional image when representing BWE.
- Work on specific customer sites as per customer requirements (Man on Hire) when required.
- Ensure complying to safe work practices when working on machines.
- Maintain and control contamination control standards.
- Responsible and Control of own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained (ISO standards)
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
- Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) NQF 3
- Minimum 7 years post qualification experience on earthmoving machines (Minimum 5 years Caterpillar experience)
- Caterpillar machine specific technical knowledge and skills (Caterpillar Certification an advantage)
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Good technical report writing
- Good Computer literacy (SIS, STW & ET) knowledge, microsoft office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Applicable fundamental product knowledge (Caterpillar).
- Advance trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic business and financial understanding.
- Good health – meet company and customer site compliance requirements.
- Have basis tools (BWE standard kit)
- Driver's licence – Code B
- Prepare to work away from home on short notice and undefine periods
- Understanding of OEM and supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures.
- Required to work on various customer sites on an adhoc.
