- To oversee the planning, leading, organising and control of materials section (i.e. Engineering stores, Materials & Maize).
- Conducts and improves forecasting activities and methods in order to maintain effective inventory levels
- Analyses pertinent data such as usage history, lead times, and inventory and market trends in order to maintain established operational readiness.
- Conducts performance evaluation for suppliers and vendors in order to maintain quality services.
- Oversee that the correct procedures relating to goods received are followed and supply an efficient and prompt service whereby preventing stock outs.
Key Performance Areas:
FINANCIAL PERSPECTIVE
- Control & manage inbound logistics variable cost vs budget.
- ·Control casual labour requirements and manage overtime cost.
- Oversee stock control of all incoming goods and material.
- Identify stock movements
- Liaise with Engineering manager on slow moving items and sell redundant stocks if required.
- Prepare budget forecasts
- Inventory Management.
- Oversee that daily stock takes is performed at the inbound areas and reported accordingly
- Oversee regular cycle count and monthly stock count for Engineering and Materials stores.
- Report and investigate any variances
- Ensure that month end stock take is being done in correct manner and to minimize variances.
- Reviews levels of inventory in order to identify excess or obsolete
SUSTAINABITY PERSPECTIVE
- Ensure compliance to all legislative requirements.(OSHAS 18001,SANS3000-1, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14000 )
- Complies with workplace policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Report, investigate and close-out all non-conformance incidences. (I.e. Safety incidences, Customer complaints etc.)
- Conduct safety inspections and take corrective action
- Issuing of permits for safety work
- Maintain good housekeeping standards at the inbound Logistics sections.
- Minimize complaints and ensure all related internal and external audit finding are closed out timeously.
- Ensure that all staff comply to safe working conditions
- Ensure that all personnel adheres to safety and environmental policy
- Maintain quality standards
INTERNAL BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE
- Liaise with internal and external customers regarding materials and spares availability
- Lead the bbs-mdi for material section.
- To co-ordinate and supervise the expediting of all SAP transactions relevant to inbound logistics section.
- Continuing monitoring of the process and efficiencies of machinery and schedule maintenance monthly or when required
- Effective management and operation of the engineering stores, maize section and material operations.
- Check and manage all activities in relation to incoming process goods and material at the mill.
- Ensure incoming materials and goods meet spec before offloading by materials team.
- Prepare monthly reports timely and accurately to meet company and department requirements
- Assessment of Stock Levels and make necessary adjustments.
- Continuing monitoring of the process and efficiencies of machinery
- Ensure compliance of all Work Instructions applicable to materials, maize, engineering stores and review when required.
PEOPLE AND LEARNING PERSPECTIVE
- Responsible for the performance management of team members and providing appropriate feedback relating to department goals and team members.
- Responsible for developing, coaching and mentoring team.
- Allocate workloads for the material sections as required.
- Conduct performance reviews with all staff.
- Monitoring of working hours of all staff.
- Any other reasonable request or work task as allocated by the Line Manager or other Senior Management.
CUSTOMER AND STAKEHOLDERS PERSPECTIVE
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with others on concerns pertaining maize, engineering stores, materials operations, equipment maintenance / repairs.
- Proactively builds professional relationships within and across teams
- Demonstrates understanding of internal and external customer needs, expectations and delivers accordingly
- Resolve all customer complaints within the agreed timelines.
- Build and maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders
- Communicate stock material shortages or stock out with relevant departments.
Experience
- 5 years or more experience in a stores/materials environment including supervision of others
- Engineering/Technical understanding.
- Experience in material management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
