Established Guesthouse in Franschhoek is now looking for a talented Junior Sous Chef to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, have a friendly attitude towards people, can comfortably and engagingly communicate with colleagues, superiors and guests, and relish the opportunity to wow their clients. The position requires that the candidate have a minimum qualification of Grade 12 and 6 months of formal chef’s training, coupled with at least 2 years experience in a 4* environment. Your experience in casual dining with a twist, knowledge of food ordering and costing and computer literacy in MS Office is essential. A chef’s qualification and working knowledge ofLightspeed will be an advantage. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, highly pressurised environment, you must be physically and mentally fit and able to do the job, and you must be willing and able to assist with other duties/projects if needed.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Food delivery – top quality food, presentation to guests; interact with guests when required; ensure entity receives food as per requirements & plan, assist in menu planning
• Food costs – monitor & maintain expenses within budget; portion sizes • Management of some staff members, training, motivation, discipline.
- Stock control – par stock maintained; daily ordering; food and equipment counts.
Will live within a reasonable travelling distance to work and ideally have own transport.
To start in September 2024 with a salary expectancy of between R 12 500 to R 18 500 pm.
