About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Tax Specialist who is a registered Tax Practitioner to join our growing tax practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to gain broad exposure across individual, corporate, trust, VAT, and payroll taxation within a small, client-focused environment.
The successful candidate will work directly with senior tax professionals and clients, assisting with tax compliance, SARS engagements, tax administration, and advisory support.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Tax Practitioner with a recognised controlling body (SAIT, SAIPA, SAICA, etc.).
- Relevant qualification in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–5 years' practical tax experience.
- Working knowledge of South African tax legislation.
- Experience dealing with SARS eFiling and SARS correspondence.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance
- Preparation and submission of:
- Individual Income Tax Returns (ITR12)
- Company Income Tax Returns (ITR14)
- Trust Tax Returns (IT12TR)
- Provisional Tax Returns (IRP6)
- VAT Returns (VAT201)
- EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations
- Review client information and supporting documentation.
- Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
SARS Administration
- Liaise with SARS regarding:
- Audits and verifications
- Objections and appeals
- Tax clearances and compliance status requests
- Registration amendments
- Refund follow-ups
- Resolve client tax queries and disputes.
Client Service
- Maintain regular communication with clients.
- Request outstanding information and supporting documentation.
- Assist with onboarding new clients and FICA compliance.
- Prepare tax calculations and client correspondence.
Tax Research and Advisory Support
- Conduct tax research on technical matters.
- Assist senior practitioners with tax planning projects.
- Stay current with legislative and SARS developments.
Preferred Experience
- SARS eFiling and EasyFile.
- GreatSoft, TaxWare, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar software.
- Experience with objections, disputes and SARS audits.
- Basic knowledge of trusts and estate planning.

Remuneration
R18,000 – R30,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated SARS competency.
