Electrical Foreman – Commercial & Retail Projects (Shoprite / Checkers)
Brackenfell Electrical Contractors is a leading commercial and retail electrical contractor based in Cape Town. Established in 1983, we have over 40 years of experience delivering high-quality electrical installations throughout the Western Cape. Our portfolio includes numerous Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Checkers FreshX, Checkers Sixty60, Shoprite Mini, OK Urban, and Medirite projects.
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Foreman to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise electrical teams on Shoprite and Checkers retail projects.
- Plan daily site activities and allocate labour efficiently.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Ensure installations comply with SANS 10142 and project specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, clients, and other trades.
- Monitor project progress to ensure deadlines and budgets are achieved.
- Conduct quality control inspections and oversee commissioning.
- Enforce Health & Safety requirements and maintain site documentation.
- Manage material usage, deliveries, and stock control on site.
- Mentor electricians and apprentices to maintain high workmanship standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Electrician with a recognised Trade Test.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electrical Foreman.
- Proven experience on Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Checkers FreshX, Checkers Sixty60, or similar large retail developments.
- Excellent knowledge of commercial electrical installations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight programme deadlines.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and project reporting).
- Ability to read electrical drawings and manage multiple subcontractors and trades.
Advantageous
- Wireman's Licence.
- First Aid and SHE Representative training.
- Experience with retail store revamps, new builds, and fast-track projects.
- Experience managing multiple teams simultaneously.
