A starting annual total cost to company package of R 1 227 388,98 (negotiable commensurate with experience)
Please note this position is available on a five-year fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Supporting the implementation of the Commission’s duties under various bilateral and multilateral Memoranda of Understanding with regional and international agencies including organising local and international visits and capacity building exchanges;
- Providing support to the Commission’s affiliation with identified agencies by organising events, writing reports, conducting research and undertaking other activities the Commission engages in to fulfil its obligations; obtaining feedback on the Commission’s participation in the activities of international and regional fora;
- Representing the Competition Commission at meetings, workshops and conferences with regional and international agencies in accordance with the Commission’s strategy;
- Developing and maintaining an accurate database of international and local competition authorities, with up-to-date contact details and relevant information regarding their functioning;
- Providing inputs to research on international best practice and developments in competition law and policy locally, regionally and internationally.
- Providing inputs to submissions regarding the Competition Commission’s position on competition law and policy and other relevant policies for consideration and discussion with regional and international stakeholders;
- Communicating relevant information from International Relations by writing articles for the Commission’s internal and external newsletters as required and by keeping the Commission’s knowledge management system updated.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed relevant qualification, Masters an added advantage.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a public policy or international relations environment.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in an international relations environment interacting and communicating with international and local stakeholders (CEO’s, Ministers, Heads of international agencies, etc.)
- Solid understanding of domestic and international developments in competition, social, economic, legal and trade policies within a regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of international protocols
- Previous experience in working in the public sector, knowledge of and experience in international protocol will be an added advantage.
