Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Direct the administration of compensation, benefits, employment and employee relations programs in the organisation. Ensure that appropriate and accurate information is processed to salaries
- Participate in the development of business plans in partnership with Senior Management.
- Maintain a solid relationship with the recognised union and Shop Stewards, while ensuring that an environment conducive to collective bargaining is maintained.
- Lead annual union salary negotiations and ensure that the Substantive Agreement is amended accordingly.
- Advise and participate in disciplinary processes / grievance procedures when required, in compliance with legislation, best practice and company policy and procedure.
- Represent the Company at the CCMA as required.
- Counsel and coach managers, team leaders and supervisors in the resolution of employee issues.
- Direct the needs of the business in terms of training and development programs, by conducting training needs analysis alongside internal
shareholders.
- Continuously update the employee’s skills audit file.
- Deliver learning and development programs to ensure all employees receive
the necessary learning and development to drive the business forward.
- Design and roll out an Induction and Orientation process.
- Develop and manage succession planning and talent management within
the business.
- Inculcate a performance management culture and ensure that KPI’s are
completed and signed off accordingly.
- Ensure that pension contributions are paid timeously and that withdrawals,
death and disability claims are processed within the SLA turnaround period.
- Liaison manager of the Company pension fund together with the Company
committee members, review policy performance monthly/quarterly/agree
annual review date etc.
- Create and manage the annual HR budget.
- Ensure that Company Policies and Procedures remain relevant, updated and
signed-off accordingly.
- Ensure that the Company Employment Equity Plans are updated, the annual
- EE reports submitted timeously and ensure that the Employment Equity Committee is trained and meet quarterly to address any issues.
- Planning and measurement of the various businesses, alongside the Finance
- Manager, to ensure that the Company is able to maintain or improve its BBBEE status.
- Manage the benchmarking process of salary and benefits within the Company against industry norms.
- Implement measures to attract and retain competent staff and source new staff via recruitment agencies or the relevant job portals.
- Ensure that the full recruitment process is followed i.e. talent acquisition, interviews, references, criminal checks and psychometric assessments.
- Ensure that an exit interview is conducted with any employee exiting the business.
- Oversee the process of applying for Discretionary and Mandatory Grants within the specified Seta.
- Understand and remain up-to-date on the different specific legal conditions and legislations.
- Support the Senior Leadership Team with the organizational design, headcount and long-term planning to best benefit the organization.
