Requirements
- A relevant three-year tertiary qualification in Town Planning
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ appropriate experience, of
which at least two (2) years must have been supervisory
experience at a senior level
- Registration as a Professional Planner with SACPLAN
- Working knowledge of Planning/Local Government legislation,
- Land-Use Schemes, MSA, NEMA Regulations and other
related legislation and policies
- Computer literacy (particularly in MS Office and SAP)
- A valid driver’s licence.
Key Performance Areas
- Provide strategic leadership and business planning
towards developing and achieving performance and service
delivery goals; incl. planning and development of current
and future interventions as required to achieve optimum
levels and standards of service delivery
- Oversee and manage the operational functions of
Development Management department at a regional and
district level and ensure a consistent, integrated approach
to development management across the City
- Oversee and manage the implementation of development
policy and processes which integrate the planning
functions, land-use management, building development
management and legislation and enforcement.
- Facilitate and ensure statutory compliance within the national,
provincial and local legislative and policy environment
- Oversee the delivery and management of a Citywide
processing system for development applications
- Ensure the appropriate performance and resource
management of the department
- Facilitate, direct and lead the management of stakeholder
relations and engaging key stakeholders
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and optimisation
initiatives
