Role Purpose
The role of the Senior Credit Analyst is to lead high-quality credit research, analysis and recommendations on potential and existing credit investments as an input into the credit portfolio management process, within the Fixed Income team’s philosophy and strategy in order to achieve desired client and portfolio outcomes, and the Momentum Group’s strategic objectives. The role is responsible for applying and strengthening the Fixed Income team’s credit process and philosophy, providing senior technical guidance, and supporting robust risk-adjusted investment decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities
Credit Research & Analysis
Conduct credit research across sectors, issuers and debt instruments.
Monitor economic, market and regulatory trends affecting credit quality and investment opportunities.
Identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide actionable insights to portfolio managers.
Credit Assessment & Investment Recommendations
Perform detailed credit analysis, including financial strength, liquidity, leverage, cash flow and business risk assessments.
Develop and maintain financial models, internal credit ratings and investment recommendations.
Prepare high-quality credit reports, risk assessments and investment proposals.
Credit Risk & Portfolio Analytics
Develop and enhance credit risk models and portfolio analytics tools.
Assess portfolio exposures, concentration risks, ratings migration and scenario outcomes.
Support portfolio construction and risk management through data-driven analysis.
Due Diligence & Documentation
Lead investment due diligence processes for debt opportunities.
Review legal and transaction documentation, including covenants, security structures and investor protections.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
Portfolio Monitoring & Governance
Monitor issuer performance, covenant compliance and emerging credit risks.
Manage watchlists, provide early-warning reports and recommend corrective actions.
Support governance processes through regular reporting and committee presentations.
ESG & Stakeholder Engagement
Integrate ESG considerations into credit analysis and investment decisions.
Engage with management teams and stakeholders to assess ESG and credit risks.
Build and maintain strong relationships with portfolio managers, clients and governance committees.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
Monitor market developments, competitor activity and industry trends.
Present credit recommendations, portfolio insights and risk assessments to decision-making forums.
Ensure compliance with governance standards, mandates and regulatory requirements.
Client Service & Continuous Improvement
Support client-focused investment outcomes and service excellence.
Contribute to process improvements, research quality and governance frameworks.
Foster a high-performance culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous development.
