Introduction
Leading sugar manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and technically competent Projects Engineer to join their team in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal. Reporting to the Projects Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of capital projects, ensuring delivery within budget, scope and schedule while maintaining compliance with engineering standards and legal requirements.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, coupled with at least 5 years' multidisciplinary project engineering experience within a heavy industrial environment. Strong project management, technical problem-solving, budgeting and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Experience in heavy manufacturing environments and proficiency in Microsoft Project will be highly advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and manages projects as required to applicable standards in a cost-effective manner within agreed time constraints to the satisfaction of key customers.
- Ensures that design details comply with the companies’ specifications as well as various engineering standards and legal requirements.
- Conduct investigations, develop solutions and prepare accurate budget estimates to substantiate the capital project plan.
- Perform engineering design analysis and manage the services of external consultants, as required.
- Supporting Factory Management with project administration, including facilitating capital applications and tracking of approved capital budget allocations.
- Facilitate progress and cost tracking of the approved Factory project portfolio, providing roll-up reports and escalating risks to delivery or budget.
- Encourages a participative climate by involving internal customers in decisions that affect their objectives.
- Perform responsibly and professionally such that an atmosphere of confidence and trust in service allows for interdepartmental synergies to occur.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical / Civils Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years’ multidisciplinary Project Engineering experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- Good technical fault-finding / problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office suite.
- Expert knowledge and extensive experience in using Microsoft Office Projects.
- Government Certificate of Competency or Professional ECSA registration will be advantageous.
- Good understanding of sugar processing equipment and its maintenance will be advantageous.
- Successful completion of an EIT program in a heavy manufacturing industry will be advantageous.
