WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Nike operates in a highly collaborative environment. This role sits within a team of HR professionals and business stakeholders, reporting to the People Solutions Director for the region. The role partners closely with people managers across South Africa, supporting both corporate and store-based teams.
The individual collaborates with the EMEA HQ People Solutions organization and Centers of Expertise to implement programs, represent local requirements, and leverage specialist knowledge. In addition, the role connects with People Solutions Consulting peers across regions to exchange insights, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement. Strong stakeholder management across retail and corporate teams is critical to ensuring teammate needs and business priorities are clearly understood and effectively represented.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is looking for an experienced, solutions-oriented HR professional to support teammates across South Africa, based in the Johannesburg office.
This role plays a critical role in shaping the end-to-end teammate experience in the region. It delivers expertise across a wide range of complex HR topics and provides high-quality, consistent support to both retail and corporate teams in close partnership with business leaders, HR teams, and EMEA Headquarters.
The successful candidate approaches challenges with curiosity and accountability, translating business needs into scalable, practical solutions. They build strong, trust-based relationships and use deep HR expertise to elevate the teammate experience while identifying opportunities to simplify, improve, and innovate.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-volume HR casework
- Experience in a dynamic retail environment is an advantage
- Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and practices, with the ability to apply them effectively
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and key employment law principles
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and collaborate effectively
- Experience with ServiceNow and Workday is an advantage
- Solid understanding of HR policies, practices, procedures, and their interdependencies
- Strong operational HR knowledge with the ability to execute both routine and complex processes
- Uses technology to improve, streamline, and automate activities; ServiceNow and Workday knowledge is a plus
- Consistently balances speed with accuracy and quality
- Demonstrates a strong teammate-focused mindset across a diverse business audience
- Applies project management discipline to coordinate with specialists and functional experts to deliver outcomes
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you will play a key role in the Nike South Africa team while leveraging strong partnerships across global and EMEA HQ teams. You will be part of an organization grounded in a strong, people-first culture and contribute to an ongoing HR transformation as Nike evolves its operating model to drive impact at scale.
On a day-to-day basis, you will resolve a broad range of HR matters in partnership with business stakeholders and Nike HR Centers of Expertise. You will provide expert, consultative support and coaching across key HR areas, including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, training, DEI, and legal and regulatory topics.
You will use technology (ServiceNow and Workday) to manage cases effectively and generate insights that enable informed decision-making for the teammate population.
You will lead high-impact HR projects within the region, using local expertise to proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and implement best practices.
Conduct responsibilities in line with PS Consultant R&Rs.
Coordinate disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with South African labor laws (including appointing chairpersons for hearings)
Support local implementation of Employment Equity (EE) targets, including drafting EEP committee agendas and capturing meeting notes
Prepare the EEP Committee Chair for quarterly committee meetings
Support preparation of EEA2 and EEA4 submissions, including reporting (e.g., dismissals, recruitment)
Design and submit a 12-month strategic Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) to the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) within annual deadlines
Conduct training needs analysis, plan in-country training programs, and implement learnerships, internships, and skills programs in accordance with the Skills Development Act (1998)
Partner with SETA to ensure WSP requirements are met, access discretionary grants, and stay informed on sector skills priorities to avoid financial penalties or rejected submissions
Support leader readiness and provide on-the-ground support during inspections and audits
Prepare statutory reports
