Senior Professional Officer - Data Engineer
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification (honours or four-year degree),
preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology or
Information Systems.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience
- Our ideal candidate has:
o Proven experience building and managing large-scale data
systems.
o Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL
o Deep, hands-on experience with the open-source data
ecosystem
o Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization
o A desire for data quality, observability, and writing clean,
testable code.
Key Performance Areas
- Translate data into valuable insights that inform decisions.
- Integrate and separate data feeds in order to map, produce,
transform and test new data products.
- Develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable, and future-proof
data services to meet user needs.
- Produce data models and understand where to use different
types of data models.
- Design and maintain the appropriate metadata repositories to
enable the organisation to understand its data assets.
- Design, write, and iterate code from prototype to production
ready.
- Design and manage the shared data science Infrastructure
- Plan, design, manage, execute, and report tests, using
appropriate tools and techniques, and work within testing
regulations.
- Continuously develop data engineering knowledge, using
multiple sources, while sharing data engineering practices
across departments and in industry.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical officials
- Recognise and explore opportunities for the purpose of
innovation and with the intent of constantly and proactively
improving the data products and the data engineering
