Career Growth Hospitality Recruitment is seeking a passionate and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join a prestigious luxury hospitality property in the Cape Winelands.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef who enjoys leading by example, maintaining exceptional food standards, and supporting a high-performing kitchen team. Working closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering memorable dining experiences while ensuring smooth kitchen operations and maintaining the highest culinary standards.
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
- Support the preparation and presentation of exceptional dishes to the highest standards
- Supervise and guide junior chefs and kitchen apprentices during service
- Ensure food quality, consistency and presentation meet luxury hospitality standards
- Assist with food preparation, requisitions and stock transfers between kitchen sections
- Monitor stock rotation using FIFO principles to minimise waste and maintain product quality
- Support monthly stock takes and inventory management
- Train, mentor and develop junior kitchen team members
- Ensure all health, safety and hygiene procedures are consistently followed
- Report equipment maintenance issues and assist with coordinating repairs
- Help manage kitchen resources efficiently while maintaining cost control
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Previous supervisory experience within a restaurant, hotel or similar hospitality environment
- Strong culinary knowledge and passion for quality food
- Leadership and team management skills
- Good inventory and stock management experience
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Matric certificate
- Relevant culinary qualification would be advantageous
