GROUP BOOKKEEPING & FINANCE CONTROL COORDINATOR
Location: Remote (South Africa)
Salary: R18,000 – R25,000 per month Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a highly organized and persistent Group Bookkeeping & Finance Control Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day completeness of accounting records across a diverse group of companies.
Note: This is not a senior technical accounting or tax compliance role. Those functions are managed by our senior finance team. Your primary mission is operational accountability: ensuring that every company’s books are complete, current, supported, and reconciled every single week.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To ensure every financial transaction across the group is recorded, properly documented, and brought fully up to date each week. You will be the "keeper of the process," identifying missing items, chasing down information, and escalating unresolved issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Weekly Completeness: Maintain a weekly checklist for all group entities.
- Ensure all bank and credit card statements are captured and all transactions are recorded in the correct ledger.
- Transaction Integrity: Identify and resolve missing, duplicated, or unallocated transactions.
- Maintain clean general ledgers.
- Intercompany Matching: Proactively match intercompany loans, expenses, and payments to ensure figures agree across entities.
- Document Management: Chase and collect missing invoices, receipts, and contracts.
- Maintain a structured, digital filing system.
- Accounts Receivable/Payable: Assist in maintaining accurate ledgers, managing overdue accounts, and preparing supplier payments for review.
- Reporting: Produce a concise, weekly finance status report detailing the completeness of the group, highlighting any outstanding items for management review.
WHO YOU ARE
- Persistent & Process-Driven: You don’t let things slide. You are comfortable following up with colleagues and suppliers until the job is done.
- Detailed: You notice when a bank balance doesn't match the ledger or a receipt is missing.
- Experienced: You have at least 3+ years in bookkeeping or finance administration and have managed multiple ledgers or entities simultaneously.
- Tech-Savvy: You are highly proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and cloud-based accounting software (Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks).
- Independent: You work effectively in a remote environment without requiring constant oversight.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS & INTERNATIONAL WORKING ARRANGEMENT
- This position is offered as an Independent Contractor engagement and is not an employment relationship. The successful candidate will operate as an independent professional and will be solely responsible for managing their own tax affairs, statutory obligations, retirement planning, medical aid, insurance, social security contributions, accounting requirements, and any other legal or financial obligations applicable in their country of residence.
- The Company will not make deductions or contributions on the contractor's behalf, and the contractor is expected to obtain independent professional advice regarding their personal tax and financial affairs.
