Job Purpose
The Group Management Accountant will be accountable and responsible to lead the preparation, consolidation and delivery of financial and management reports timeously and accurately for the Sun International Limited Group, in line with policy, frameworks and tools based on researched leading and industry practice and relevant statutory regulations. The role will achieve these objectives by partnering with the Sun International leadership, finance teams at a central and operational level, and through dealing with external stakeholders and banking authorities. This role will also be required to support specialised Group financial projects as required
Key Performance Areas
- Lead the consolidated financial reporting for all financial operations across the Group to ensure the financial position of Sun International is accurate, up-to-date and complete. These reports will include:
- Monthly management reports
- Quarterly management reports
- Year end and Interim reporting
- Budget and forecasting reporting
- Exco and Board reporting
- Capex reporting
- Investigate unusual variances relative to budget and previous year; find solutions to resolve anomalies and follow-up to ensure execution or change in procedure
- Conduct analyses of business results and identify relative trends to ensure realistic forecasts
- Compile, monitor and review monthly, quarterly and annual Budgets and forecasting reports for the Group
- Assist with the preparation of the Group Annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
- Assist with Investor presentations and Integrated Annual Reporting
- Manage the activities around the interim and year-end reporting requirements and deadlines
- Interpret results and commentary on financial results and prepare reports for distribution to investors and analysts
- Provide value-adding recommendations to optimise financial performance (with regards reporting and processes).
- Compile and provide board packs and reports in line with management requirements that assist stakeholders in making relevant decisions e.g. trend analyses on performance in different areas of the business for specific timeframes
- Develop and update Group financial governance reporting, standards, processes and tools including templates and tools for the completion of results and budgets
- Develop, align and update financial reporting practices with new legislative and tax regulations
- Communicate and monitor compliance to financial procedures, and implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks to mitigate any financial risk to the business
- Act as the subject matter expert on Financial and statutory legislation and finance requirements for the Group
- Communicate proactively with units to review and reconcile data needed for reporting; and follow-up on outstanding information
- Partner with Business Unit financial accountants and financial managers to ensure the correct and timeous consolidation of financial results and reporting
- Handle any referred and escalated complaints, disputes and suggestions as required, offering expert advice in order to resolve any issues or challenges
- Provide counsel and advice to Financial Managers and Accountants on latest developments; risks identified and recommendations
- Identify any training needs or gaps in interaction with unit finance, and manage outputs in order to achieve financial reporting objectives to standards and in line with deadlines
- Communicate pro-actively with Business Operations, to review financial position, challenges, impacts and report timeously on revenue and financial position; offering support as required
- Act as a point of contact and co-ordinate audits for the Group
- Conduct impact analyses and support adhoc management projects
- Report and consult with top management on risk areas and remedial action to be taken
