Soughted is a leading short-term rental management company with over 10 years of experience managing high-performing properties across Cape Town. We partner with property owners to maximise returns while delivering exceptional guest experiences through professional operations, technology-driven systems, and hands-on portfolio management.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organised Portfolio Manager to oversee a portfolio of approximately 25-35 properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong owner relationships, maintaining high property standards, and taking ownership of portfolio performance.
Role Overview
As a Portfolio Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of property owners and their properties. You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence across your portfolio, maintaining owner satisfaction, coordinating maintenance and projects, and driving portfolio performance through proactive management.
This role offers the opportunity to manage a smaller, focused portfolio, allowing for stronger owner relationships, greater attention to detail, and a higher standard of service delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesProperty & Owner Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners.
- Act as the primary point of contact for owners within your portfolio.
- Conduct regular property inspections and provide detailed feedback and reporting.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve property performance and guest experience.
- Manage owner expectations and ensure consistent communication.
Operations & Maintenance
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and contractor management.
- Oversee property readiness and quality standards.
- Manage refurbishment and improvement projects where required.
- Ensure issues are resolved efficiently and within budget.
- Monitor and control property-related expenses.
Guest Experience
- Work closely with Reservations, Guest Experience, Housekeeping, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist with escalated guest matters when required.
- Ensure properties consistently meet Soughted's quality standards.
Administration & Reporting
- Review owner statements and financial reports.
- Manage invoices, receipts, and portfolio-related documentation.
- Maintain accurate property records and operational files.
- Track and report on inspections, maintenance issues, cancellations, and guest reviews.
- Ensure all portfolio data is accurately maintained across company systems.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure efficient portfolio management.
- Build strong working relationships with contractors, building managers, suppliers, and service providers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Previous experience in property management, hospitality, short-term rentals, real estate, or a similar client-facing operational role.
- Exceptional organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- Strong administrative and reporting skills.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new systems quickly.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
Highly Advantageous
- Experience managing a short-term rental portfolio.
- Experience working with Guesty, Hostaway, Airbnb, Booking.com, or similar hospitality platforms.
- Experience managing contractors, maintenance projects, or property operations.
- Experience working directly with property owners or high-value clients.

Working Hours
This is an office-based position.
Working hours are 09:00 – 18:00.
The role includes working every second weekend, with every second Tuesday and Wednesday allocated as off days.
