Duties & Responsibilities of the Resident Pharmacist:
Managing day-to-day pharmacy operations
Acting as the Responsible Pharmacist
Ensuring compliance with SAPC, Good Pharmacy Practice, and South African pharmacy laws
Dispensing medication accurately and safely
Counselling patients on medication use
Supervising pharmacy assistants, interns, and support staff
Managing stock, procurement, storage, expiry dates, and temperature control
Maintaining proper pharmacy records and documentation
Creating/following SOPs
Handling incidents, errors, and compliance issues
Supporting the pharmacy as it grows from startup phase
Requirements / Qualifications:
BPharm degree
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
Eligible to act as Responsible Pharmacist
Strong knowledge of SAPC regulations and Good Pharmacy Practice
Community pharmacy experience preferred
Leadership or management capabilities
Exceptional patient care
Excellent communication skills
