What the Role Delivers
This position is responsible to perform and analyze activities related to product costing, expenditure, product manufacturing analysis, inventory evaluation and make recommendations in order to reduce financial wastages and increase profitability for the Africa and Asia Pacific Region (“AAPAC”). Additionally, to perform moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger, management reports and financial statements in order to maximize the region’s cash flow and minimize bad debts. This role will report regional financial results on a monthly basis to management to enable appraisal of the company's actual performance against target for the AAPAC region.
Key Responsibilities
In order of relative importance
- Manage the region’s debtors’ book: customer invoicing, distributor commission calculation and payments, receivables management, receivables reconciliation.
- Daily Bank processing: both local and foreign bank transactions.
- Monthly VAT processing and submission to SARS.
- Stock control management + monthly stock takes.
- Creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials, maintenance of standard costing for both material and overhead costs.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes including journal processing and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- ERP system set-ups: Business Partner master data setup /maintenance+ material master data setup/maintenance.
- Assist in completion of annual statutory audit and annual group audit.
- Perform as needed financial analysis and modelling to support business planning, investment case and margin analysis.
- Direct or Assist in the preparation of country specific tax packages in the region to support corporate tax planning and tax provisions quarterly and annually.
- Business partnering with key stakeholders including the commercial team, and senior regional team to provide key insights for margin enhancement and support through analytics for the delivery of the commercial performance

What the Job Requires
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CA (SA) or higher education
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience with SAP, similar size ERP system
- Fluent in English
What to Have Done and Know How to Do
These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual’s performance history and demonstrated potential.
- Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant and or Cost Accountant.
- Proven experience as a business partner to key stakeholders including the commercial team
- Proper knowledge of product costing (standard costing), creation of Bills of materials, understanding production flows.
- Clear understanding of pricing models, including price, volumes and mix to drive margin enhancement
- Knowledge of accounting regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
- High attention to detail, excellent time-management abilities and can work under pressure.
