As a Product Development Scientist, you will play a key role in driving innovation, developing high-quality products, and ensuring successful execution from concept to first batch manufacture.
Your Impact:
- Identify new raw materials and required specifications to meet label claims.
- Coordinate laboratory testing, compile stability protocols and evaluate results to ensure product quality and efficacy.
- Prepare and submit trial documentation, schedule trials, liaise with production and perform trials to bring new products to life.
- Assist production with the first batch manufacture and adapt formulation or process when needed to achieve optimal results.
- Coordinate sourcing, testing and timelines across departments to ensure every project is delivered on time and to the highest standard.
- Evaluate existing products and processes, identify opportunities, investigate and implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.
- Ensure all work complies with GLP, c-GMP and company policies. Maintain clean, safe and efficient laboratory practices at all times.
- Perform the necessary calculations, propose concept formulations and submit concept formulation to the Finance department for costing purposes. Adapt formulation as required.
- Liaise with the Business Development team and/or client until an acceptable quote is achieved, or until the project is cancelled.
What You Bring:
- A BSc Honours, BPharm, BEng or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of GMP/ISO/HACCP
- Familiar with stability testing, food and medicine acts and validation principles
- Previous development and project management experience
- A minimum of two years experience in product formulation
- Basic knowledge of OHS & Environmental standards
This positions will be based onsite in Kuils River, Cape Town.
