Trailer Manufacturing, CNC & Pneumatic Systems Development
About the Role
We are seeking a practical, hands-on and solutions-driven Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering and manufacturing team within the trailer manufacturing industry.
This role requires a strong combination of engineering expertise, workshop leadership, technical problem-solving, and manufacturing process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup, program, and optimise CNC machinery
- Develop and improve machining processes for production efficiency
- Design and develop fixtures, jigs, and tooling for manufacturing processes
- Ensure correct tooling selection, setup, and maintenance
- Design, develop, and improve pneumatic systems and equipment
- Assist with product and process development within the trailer manufacturing environment
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and 3D models
- Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams
- Develop manufacturing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot machining, mechanical, and pneumatic system issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within production and engineering
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards
- Liaise with suppliers, production teams, and management regarding engineering projects and improvements
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong CNC setup and programming experience
- Experience with fixture, jig, and tooling design
- Strong understanding of machining processes and machine shop operations
- Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems and mechanical design
- Proficient in CAD software, including:
- SolidWorks
- Fusion 360
- General CAD drafting and modelling
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and assemblies
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Valid driver’s licence
