A leader in outdoor global lighting market whose mission is to provide cost-effective lighting solutions for safe, comfortable, and sustainable environments. The SHEQ Manager position will form part of the Operations Department, based in Olifantsfontein
Purpose
The objective of this position is to provide well established policies, processes and procedure for Quality Management, Health and Safety and Environmental practices as defined by Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Management standards and regulations within the Company. To ensure that all external and internal requirements are met before our product reaches our customers.
Responsibilities
· Ensure that a document control procedure is adopted to approve, review and update all changes critical documents within the scope of the QMS.
· Responsible for ensuring that records are established and maintained to provide evidence that the QMS is being followed and that there is a system in place for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposition of such records.
· Ensure that the performance if the QMS is reviewed at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. This review includes assessing opportunities for improvement and the need for changes to QMS.
· Quality objectives are set by management for measuring the performance of the QMS and that these are regularly reviewed.
Draw up an expense budget and give input to the departmental budget and ensure that department expenses are within agreed tolerance limits of budget.
· All suppliers used by the Company are selected, evaluated and re-evaluated and that records of these assessments are maintained.
· Ensure that an internal audit program is adopted to verify that the QMS conforms to required standards and legislation. Put improvement plans in place where required
· Analyze data on the effectiveness of the QMS system and evaluate where improvements can be made.
· Co- ordinate continuous improvement of the QMS, ensuring that evidence of corrective and preventive actions taken are recorded and reviewed.
· Review current standards and policies.
· Keep record of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation.
· People management of Inspectors by ensuring adequate supervision, performance management and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures.
· All new employees are inducted into the requirements of the QMS related to their responsibilities. Provide training updates when required.
· Advises line management and assists with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of Company and contractors sites.
· Ensure legal compliance of Health, Safety and Environment
· Develop personnel by improving their knowledge, attitudes and skills through training, job rotation, appraisals (or performance) and potential.
· Supervising and guiding inspectors, technicians and other staff
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related field
· Internal audit certification (Quality, Environment, Health & Safety Management System)
· A minimum of 5 - 10 years in a similar role or environment
· Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or relevant role
· Thorough knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards
· Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis or statistical methods
· Strong knowledge of SHEQ regulations and standards
· Ability to lead and influence of at all levels of the organisation
· Proficiency in SHEQ management software and tools.
