We are seeking a highly experienced Turbo Generator Centreline, Turbine Auxiliaries & Valves Quality Controller / Inspector to support major maintenance and outage projects within the power generation sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that turbine, generator, auxiliary equipment, valve maintenance, precision measurements, and overhaul activities are executed in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
This is a specialist role requiring extensive experience in turbine and generator maintenance, precision inspection, condition monitoring, and quality assurance within a power station environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- SAIW Welding and Fabrication Inspector Level II.
- N6 Diploma and Trade Test Certificate or National Diploma in Engineering.
- Trade Test in Fitting and Machining.
- Diploma or Certificate in Total Quality Management.
- Quality Management Certificate.
Minimum Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A minimum of 10 years' post-apprenticeship experience.
- At least 5 years' experience within a power station environment.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in turbine and generator quality inspection.
- Proven experience in turbine and generator overhauls.
- Practical commissioning and decommissioning experience.
Technical Competencies
Applicants must have practical experience in:
- Turbo generator centreline inspections and alignment.
- Turbine and generator overhaul activities.
- Turbine auxiliary equipment maintenance.
- High Pressure (HP) and Intermediate Pressure (IP) control valves.
- Emergency stop valves.
- Lube oil systems and oil pumps.
- Pressure testing of mechanical equipment.
- Precision measurement using inside and outside micrometres.
- Working to engineering tolerances as fine as 0.02 mm.
- Dial test indicators (clock gauges).
- Shaft run-out measurement and assessment.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Reviewing work scopes and preparing or reviewing Project Quality Plans (PQPs).
- Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management processes.
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Turbine maintenance philosophy.
- Condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis and tribology.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections during turbine, generator, valve, and auxiliary equipment maintenance.
- Verify compliance with engineering specifications, drawings, and quality procedures.
- Inspect turbine centrelines, shafts, bearings, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Witness pressure testing, alignment, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and review Project Quality Plans (PQPs).
- Identify, document, and manage non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Compile inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, ISO 9001, and applicable statutory standards.
- Promote continuous improvement and adherence to best engineering practices.

Remuneration
A competitive remuneration package will be offered based on qualifications, specialist experience, and demonstrated competency.
