Position: Cleaner/Handyman
Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town
Salary: Market related
Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning & Hygiene Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize offices, boardrooms, reception areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors daily.
- Dust and wipe down furniture, desks, equipment, and windowsills.
- Ensure high-touch areas (door handles, light switches, railings) are regularly disinfected.
- Maintain cleanliness in staff canteen and rest areas.
2. Kitchen & Refreshments Management
- Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and refreshments for staff and visitors when required.
- Wash dishes, cups, and kitchen utensils.
- Ensure fridges, microwaves, and kitchen counters are kept clean.
- Monitor and report low stock of cleaning materials and refreshments.
3. Waste Management
- Empty office and factory bins daily.
- Dispose of waste in designated areas according to company procedures.
- Separate recyclable materials where applicable.
- Ensure waste areas are clean and hygienic.
4. Bathroom & Sanitary Maintenance
- Clean and disinfect toilets, basins, and mirrors.
- Refill soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Report plumbing or maintenance issues.
5. Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow company health and safety policies.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and store them correctly.
- Wear required protective clothing (PPE) when working in manufacturing areas.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately.
- Assist in maintaining clear walkways, emergency exits, and fire equipment access.
6. Basic Maintenance/Handyman Duties:
- Conduct daily or weekly facility inspections to identify wear and tear or damage.
- Assist with basic plumbing tasks (e.g., unblocking drains, fixing minor leaks).
- Conduct routine checks of facilities and report maintenance issues
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, or office setups when required.
- Ensure outdoor areas (entrances, walkways, parking areas) are clean and well-maintained.
- Check and report issues with lighting, electrical outlets, and switches
- Assist in maintaining signage, notice boards, and wall-mounted items.
- Monitor building exterior for visible issues (e.g., cracks, leaks, damaged fittings).
- Help coordinate and prepare areas before maintenance or repair work is carried out.
- Patch minor wall damage (e.g., small holes, cracks) and assist with touch-up painting.
7. General Support Duties
- Assist with basic errands within the office.
- Support preparation of meeting rooms when required.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as requested by management.
- Complete cleaning registers
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 10
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
- Manufacturing environment experience advantageous
