Purpose of the Position

To effectively manage the company’s accounts receivable function by ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, maintaining accurate financial records, minimizing credit risk, and supporting overall cash flow management.

Ensure the effective and accurate collection of revenue from all B2C & B2B streams while handling customer queries and credit vetting.
Key Performance Objectives
Tasks
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
1. Credit Control & Collections
-
Manage and reduce outstanding debtor balances in line with company targets.

Perform regular collection activities (calls, emails, statements).
-
Ensure adherence to agreed credit terms.
-
Escalate overdue accounts and initiate recovery actions where required.
2. Customer Account Management
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer accounts.
-
Investigate and resolve account queries or disputes promptly.
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate collections.
3. Invoices and Statements
-
Ensure accurate and timely generation and distribution of invoices and statements.
-
Verify supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies.
4. Reconciliations
-
Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations.
-
Identify and resolve reconciling items and clear aged open items
5. Payments & Allocations
-
Identify and submit payment allocations to the banking team within agreed timelines
-
Track and monitor payments are allocated to customer accounts timeously
-
Manage and clear unallocated cash promptly.
6. Credit Risk Management
-
Assess, monitor and evaluate customer creditworthiness.
-
Recommend and manage credit limits.
-
Identify potential risks and take corrective action.
7. Month-End Close
-
Assist with month-end processes, including reconciliations, reporting, provisions and journal posting.

Ensure deadlines are met with high accuracy.
8. Reporting
-
Prepare weekly/monthly aged debtor reports.

Report on collection progress, bad debt exposure, and debtor days.

Provide insights to management on credit trends, risks and increase in provisions
-
Provide inputs and commentary to debtors packs and balance sheet meetings
9. Compliance & Controls
-
Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and financial controls.

Maintain proper audit trails and supporting documentation.
-
Prepare for internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations.

Respond to audit queries and assist auditors with information requests.

Ensure all debtor-related transactions are fully supported and audit-compliant.

Identify and address control weaknesses highlighted during audit reviews.
Qualifications
Credit/Financial Management Certificate/Diploma or similar qualification
Experience/Skills
Required
-
More than 2 years related experience in a Debtors management/Credit Control function
-
Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers
-
Numerical fluency
-
Well established Basic Accounting knowledge

Ability to identify and resolve queries in a timely manner

Proactive, self-starter capable of driving results and meeting deadlines

Detail oriented, Analytical, Investigative, problem solver
Preferred
-
Knowledge and proficient in SAP and/or related financial systems

Computer literate (MS Office)
-
Financial shared services and/or Telecommunications industry knowledge preferred
