POST TITLE: LECTURER

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-
Teaching at undergraduate levels in the subject field of Practical Theology & Mission Studies;

Conducting scholarly research in the field of Practical Theology or Mission Studies;
-
Mentoring students at the undergraduate level;
-
Performing academic administration and management;
-
Performing other duties as delegated by the Head of the Department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
A relevant Master’s degree in Theology, or in a closely-related discipline;
-
At least 1 accredited quality journal publication;
-
Some experience in academic administration and knowledge of departmental committees.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
-
Community engagement in a related field would be a recommendation;
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
-
Be a specialist in the Theology and Practice of Urban Development, with a possible second specialism in Ecumenism and/or Ecology-and-Theology. (The appointment is in the Department of Practical Theology & Mission Studies, with teaching, research, administrative and community service duties in the Centre for Faith and Community and related to a new project on African Ecumenism and Diaconal Studies);

Have demonstrable research experience

Exhibit good communication skills

Offer technological proficiency
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
