Work Description
The Research Nurse performs clinical procedures and administers processes essential to continually improving standards of patient care according to professional protocol.
Technical Work Responsibilities
- Provide Clinical tasks
- Research-related tasks
- Administrative duties
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders
- Review and assess data collected
- Collaborate with investigators
- Screen and recruit subjects for clinical studies
Education
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or 3 year Diploma in Nursing
- Registration with South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse
Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in PHC, HIV/Aids, TB, PMTCT and STI
- 2 months’ experience in MS Office package
- Experience in Contraceptive counselling
- Experience in STI syndrome management
- Experience in Clinical Research (preferred)
- Experience in Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) provision (preferred)
Requirements
- Own car
- Valid Driver’s license
- Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of Legislation
- Ability to work under pressure
- Provider initiated counselling
- Good phlebotomy skills
- Study protocol
- Research methodology
- Intermediate computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc.
