Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW
As a GIS Consultant/Analyst, you will apply your knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data and database management to support the delivery of a diverse range of projects.
Using the Esri technology stack (mobile, desktop and web), alongside ETL tools such as FME, you will assist in the sourcing, management and creation of geospatial data and products. You will support project teams in visualising, analysing and interpreting spatial information to inform decision-making and reporting.
In this role, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of geospatial workflows and processes, supporting efficient and high-quality project delivery while developing your technical skills as part of a centre of excellence.
Working closely with GIS Leads, Project Managers and technical specialists, you will build strong working relationships and develop your consultancy skills, supporting the effective application of geospatial solutions for clients and stakeholders.
Strong preference for experience supporting UK-based environmental programs (e.g., linear infrastructure, offshore/onshore wind, solar, carbon capture & storage, master planning, permitting & Environmental Impact Assessments).
This position is based out of one of our 3 offices in South Africa (Centurion, Durban, Cape Town). This position offers the flexibility of a Hybrid work model utilizing both in-office and remote work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mapping & Spatial Analysis

Perform spatial analysis and data processing to support environmental permitting, infrastructure planning, and master planning.

Create high-quality cartographic outputs and interactive web maps that meet project-specific communication standards.
Data Development & Integration
-
Contribute to the design and population of geodatabases, ensuring data adheres to project schemas and quality standards.

Support the integration of GIS with CAD and BIM workflows, ensuring seamless data exchange between disciplines.
Field & Mobile Operations

Configure and manage field data collection tools, including ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123, to enable efficient digital data capture.

Support the post-processing and QA/QC of field-captured data before it is integrated into master datasets.
Documentation & Standards

Maintain project metadata and technical documentation to ensure long-term data usability and compliance.

May assist in basic programming or scripting for task automation under the guidance of senior staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related technical field.
-
Typically 3+ years of professional GIS experience with a BA/BS (or 4+ years with AA/AS).

Proficiency in the ArcGIS Pro suite and foundational knowledge of ArcGIS Online/Enterprise.

Strong communication skills and ability to support the creation of actionable technical plans.

Proficiency in English, verbal and written, with emphasis on technical GIS communication (CVs must be submitted in English).
Technical Stack

Basic Excel/tabular data management.
Preferred Qualifications:

Working towards chartered professional status (e.g., CGeog, GISP) or equivalent senior technical accreditation.

Environment sector experience spanning linear infrastructure, offshore/onshore wind, solar, Carbon Capture & Storage, hydrogen, nuclear, airports, marine, master planning, permitting & Environmental Impact Assessments.

Experience working on UK projects, including familiarity with UK standards, regulations, and delivery contexts.

Familiarity with open‑source geospatial (e.g., QGIS, GeoPandas) and cloud/web GIS patterns.
