The Global Trade & Excise function at the company consists of a specialised team of expert consultants, advising and assisting various local and international clients. The team works across multiple industries including mining (onshore and offshore), petroleum and gas, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and beauty, FMCG, motor vehicles and many more. The Global Trade Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s local and international trade operations. This role involves ensuring compliance with trade regulations, managing import and export activities, and optimizing supply chain processes. The Global Trade Manager collaborates with various departments to develop strategies that support the company’s global growth objectives.
What you will do:
- Attending client meetings, guiding junior staff on risk management and drafting documents are part and parcel of the opportunity.
- Drafting opinions, responses to SARS audit findings and general Customs and or Excise advise are expected from the successful candidate.
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, regulations, and standards.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade regulations and policies.

Manage customs compliance and coordinate with customs brokers.

Oversee the import and export processes, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods.

Develop and implement strategies to minimize trade barriers and optimize costs.

Coordinate with logistics providers to manage shipping and delivery schedules.

Collaborate with supply chain teams to identify opportunities for improvement in global trade operations.

Analyze trade data and trends to inform decision-making and strategy development.

Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and government agencies.

Negotiate contracts and agreements related to international trade.

Prepare reports on trade activities, compliance, and performance metrics.

Analyze trade data to identify risks and opportunities for the organization

The ability to work with Excel and or PowerBI to analyse “big data” is an advantage
W What you need to have:
- A University Degree in Law (LL.B), Commerce (Honours), Accounting (Honours), and or Logistics (Honours) is required

3-4 years working experience in consulting or a junior managerial role is required

Work experience in Customs, Excise, Logistics and or International Trade is preferred

Other accredited Customs, Excise and or International Trade qualifications would be beneficial
