Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Test Analyst / Automation Engineer to join a leading insurance company based in Cape Town. This hybrid contract opportunity is suited to candidates with strong experience in both manual and automation testing across enterprise and customer-facing systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of business-critical applications, including web, mobile, API, and integration platforms within Agile and hybrid delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and test cases
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test scripts
- Perform functional, regression, system, integration, API, mobile, and user acceptance testing
- Validate integrations between multiple systems and third-party platforms
- Conduct testing across rewards, customer engagement, and digital platforms
- Identify, log, track, and manage defects using Jira, Xray, and related testing tools
- Execute SQL queries for backend validation and data verification
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables
- Provide accurate test execution reporting, defect analysis, and status updates
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within QA processes and automation frameworks
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in Software Testing, Test Analysis, or QA Engineering
- Proven experience in both Manual and Automation Testing
- Strong experience with Jira and Xray
- Hands-on experience with SQL and backend data validation
- Experience with API testing and integration testing
- Mobile application testing experience
- Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, and testing methodologies
- Experience working within Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
Advantageous Skills
- Experience within the Insurance or Financial Services industry
- Exposure to rewards or loyalty platforms
- Experience with automation frameworks and scripting languages
- Knowledge of performance or load testing
- ISTQB certification or related testing qualification
Working Model
- Hybrid working environment
- Preference will be given to candidates based in Cape Town
- Candidates outside Cape Town may be required to travel to the office when needed
