Senior Knowledge Lawyer M&A – Large Firm - Sandton
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Knowledge Lawyer in a Large Firm. This exciting opportunity would suit a fee-earner who is looking for an alternative legal career path within the firm.
Applicants may be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring, analysing, and communicating legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Corporate BU, and keeping the BU and its clients up to date;
- Drafting internal know how alerts, as well as client alerts and guides on legal and regulatory developments;
- Drafting internal know how such as standard precedents, checklists, and guidance notes;
- Assist with preparing standard precedents for automation and working on automation projects;
- Answering technical corporate law-related questions and dealing with queries about available know how from fee-earners;
- Updating and managing the Corporate know-how collection;
- Working with the Learning & Development team to devise appropriate internal legal technical training for the BU;
- Working with the Business Development team to identify opportunities to deepen and grow client relationships; and
- Collaborating with the Knowledge & Innovation, and Legal Solutions & Technology teams, on innovation, efficiency and legal technology projects that impact the Corporate BU.
Interested candidates should preferably have no less than 5 to 8 years post qualification experience in Mergers & Acquisitions and general corporate law.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, specifically including legal drafting and research skills, attention to detail, as well as the ability to organise thoughts and written material in a clear, commercial manner.
