A vacancy exists for a Medical Technologist
General – Donor Testing (Paterson Grade C2)
Purpose of the Job
- The incumbent will work in Red Cell Serology and Haematology Lab.
- The incumbent will perform routine and confirmatory testing for donors and private pathologists.
- Incumbent will perform all administrative and technical aspects to ensure the correct and accurate release of relevant test results for the purposes of safe transfusion.
- Incumbent will participate in the department’s lean objectives.
- Participate in laboratory projects / research projects as required
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate
- National Diploma/B Tech in Biomedical Technology/Degree in BHSc /Technician Certificate - Blood Transfusion
- Registered with HPCSA
- Blood transfusion experience is essential
- Computer literate, preferably knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint
A combination of the following skills, knowledge and attributes is required:
- Have an affinity for automated lab systems and computer systems
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work as part of a team and be flexible
- The working hours are variable and shift and weekend work will be required
- Accuracy in data collection
