Lumax Energy is looking for an experienced Warehouse Picker / Checker to join our warehouse operations in Midrand or Olifantsfontein.
This is a combined operational role responsible for both the accurate picking of customer and internal orders and the independent checking of orders picked by other employees before dispatch.
The role operates in a technical warehouse environment containing a wide range of products including fasteners, brackets, clamps, small technical components, aluminium profiles, steel sections and related solar mounting components. Accuracy, product identification and attention to detail are therefore critical.
The successful candidate must have substantial hands-on experience working with technical or component-level inventory and must be comfortable working with ERP/WMS systems, counting scales and formal picking and checking controls.
Key Responsibilities

Pick customer and internal orders accurately according to picking documentation and system instructions.

Identify and select the correct product, part, size, quantity and unit of measure.

Pick small technical components and fasteners using physical counts and counting scales where applicable.

Independently check orders picked by other employees before goods are released for dispatch.

Verify:
-
product codes and descriptions;
-
quantities;
-
dimensions or sizes where relevant;
-
product condition;
-
packaging;
-
and supporting documentation.

Ensure that the person who picks an order does not perform the final independent check on the same order.

Stop and report any order where a quantity, product, condition or documentation discrepancy is identified.

Record picking and stock movements accurately on the ERP/WMS system.

Maintain picker and checker traceability on warehouse documentation.
-
Handle aluminium, galvanised, coated and other finished products carefully to prevent scratches, bending or other damage.

Assist with cycle counts, stock counts and investigation of stock discrepancies.

Assist with receiving, loading, staging and other warehouse activities when required.

Maintain clean, organised picking locations and warehouse work areas.

Follow warehouse procedures and health and safety requirements.

Work reasonable overtime and weekends when operationally required.
The position reports operationally to the Warehouse Manager and Warehouse Supervisor.

Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Matric / Grade 12 – mandatory.

Minimum 5 years' relevant warehouse picking, checking or stock-handling experience.

Proven hands-on experience picking and/or checking small technical components, fasteners, engineering parts or similar component-level inventory.

Relevant experience gained in a technical, engineering, electrical, automotive, steel, industrial, manufacturing, HVAC, fastener or similar component-based warehouse environment.

Previous experience independently checking orders before dispatch.

Strong numerical ability and proven accuracy when working with quantities, product codes and units of measure.

Experience using counting scales for small components or fasteners.
-
Hands-on experience using an ERP or Warehouse Management System (WMS) for picking, stock movements or inventory transactions.
-
Experience using Kerridge K8 ERP will be advantageous.

Ability to distinguish between similar products, part numbers, sizes and specifications.

Experience participating in stock counts and investigating picking or stock discrepancies.
-
Ability to handle finished aluminium, steel, galvanised and coated products without causing unnecessary damage.

Willingness to perform general warehouse duties, including loading, staging, stock counts and housekeeping.

Willingness to work overtime and weekends when operationally required.

Reliable attendance, strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to warehouse controls.
Applicants whose experience is predominantly limited to FMCG, retail, e-commerce or general carton/pallet picking, without meaningful experience handling technical parts or component-level inventory, will not meet the requirements of this position.
