International Bearings and Seals manufacturing company is looking for a CNC Machinist. The purpose of the job is machine and quality control custom made sealing products. Grind and quality control of spacers, keeping stock records of raw materials required, identifying continuous improvements and rendering service to traditional and potential new customers. The position is based in Gauteng on the East Rand.
Requirements:
- A Grade 12 certificate as a minimum requirement
- Formal CNC operator qualification.
- Valid and unendorsed driver’s license.
- On the job training.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with specific reference to the OSHACT, Mine Health and Safety Act and construction regulation.
- Computer literacy (Office 365)
- A minimum of 3 years of operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines.
- Quality control knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings.
- A systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
- Excellent communication skills – English.
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
- Immediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments.
- Instruments knowledge should include, but are not limited to callipers, ID and OD micrometres, depth gages, indicators and scales.
- Immediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
- Immediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
- Must be able to operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Must be willing and able to work changing work schedules and overtime when required.
- Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
- Must have a basic understanding of profitability and contribution
Duties:
- Responsible for machining/grinding quality parts on the CNC machines such as but not limited Lathe and Grinder.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining of a daily Machining Schedule.
- Responsible for keeping track of raw materials and stock levels.
- Responsible for loading parts, moving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts.
- Quality control measurements for machined components.
- Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces,
sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, controls or control media as required.
- Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
- Operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
- Assist the Circular Economy Centre and Engineering team with any machining needs.
- Communicate with manager, engineers, sales personnel, QEHS and other personnel to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Full responsibility for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Will be required to adhere and comply with quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Take part (assisting) in the annual stock take.
- Work overtime when required.
