Job Description - The Production Managers role is to manage all aspects of the production floor, the role is responsible for optimizing workforce, plant, freezers & chillers, machinery, and equipment whilst ensuring that the working environment is safe and hygienic according to company standards. This position supervises the production staff, quality, and storage of product in a manner consistent with company service, quality, and cost objectives. Supervision of the daily operations of the production team is given, to achieve team and company objectives. Communicate, motivate, supervise, counsel and discipline, when necessary, while working closely with upper management.
Duties and Responsibilities -This position is responsible for making sure production employees are properly performing their duties that affect food safety or quality of products produced at the facility quickly and efficiently. In addition, but not limited to:
- Ensure that all employees, visitors, etc. follow the company’s standard operating procedure rules.
- Isolate any product which will not meet the established quality standards or may cause a food safety hazard if eaten. Report to upper management of any such products.
- Make sure employees are following the SOPs, ensure their areas are kept clean at all times, and equipment picked up and stored correctly.
- Ensure machines are used in the correctly according to SOPs and company policy.
- Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures.
- To train and direct processors/meat workers in their various jobs, in a way which will promote safety, quality, and productivity.
- Assist in the safe receiving, storage, retrieval, inventory control, and timely processing of products to fridges and freezers. Keep the cold chain.
- Assist in ensuring quality in every aspect of the product.
- Assist and implement the enforcement of SOPs and understand food safety.
- Coordinate with packaging and logistic teams
- Supervise factory staff; ensure stock levels are adequate and good quality practices.
- Assist in production when needed.
- Be involved in the training of new employees.
- Prepare the production schedule with the operations and logistics manager.
- Follow the daily inspection procedure and report back to operations manager.
- Report stock in stock out sheet once a week, coordinate with operations manager what must be ordered for the following week.
- Be able to explain and plan preventative measures on stock outs and shorts.
- Quarterly stock takes to be done very accurately.
- Willing to work overtime and most weekends in a month as management requires.
- Keeping the chillers and freezers clean, tidy and organised according to company standards.
- Constantly checking quality and product consistency. Report on any issues to the operations manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay: R12 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month

Experience:
- Meat Production: 10 years (Required)
- Manager: 5 years (Required)
- Vacuum Filler: 5 years (Required)
